Ultrasonic transducer is an energy conversion device. Its function is to convert the input electrical power into mechanical power (i.e. ultrasonic wave) and then transmit it out, while it consumes only a small amount of power itself.
The ultrasonic generator (also called ultrasonic power supply) converts 220V mains electricity into high-frequency current and transmits it to piezoelectric ceramics. The piezoelectric ceramics resonate at the ultrasonic frequency and convert the electrical signal into linear mechanical vibration by the piezoelectric effect of the material. The amplitude is then amplified (reduced) by the ultrasonic horn and finally transmitted to the tool head for work. Ultrasonic transducers generally have two forms: magnetostrictive and piezoelectric ceramics. All transducers used in our company are piezoelectric ceramics.
The piezoelectric ceramic transformer uses the piezoelectric effect of the polarized piezoelectric body to achieve voltage output. The input part is driven by a sinusoidal voltage signal, which is vibrated by the inverse piezoelectric effect. The vibration wave is mechanically coupled to the output part through the input and output parts. The output part then generates charge through the positive piezoelectric effect, realizing the two conversions of the piezoelectric body's electrical energy-mechanical energy-electric energy, and obtaining the highest output voltage at the resonant frequency of the piezoelectric transformer. Compared with electromagnetic transformers, this has the advantages of small size, light weight, high power density, high efficiency, resistance to breakdown, high temperature, not afraid of burning, no electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic noise, simple structure, easy to make, easy to mass produce, and has become an ideal replacement component for electromagnetic transformers in some fields. This type of transformer is used in switching converters, laptops, neon lamp drivers, etc.
