Ultrasonic tire cutting provides superior cut integrity of the material versus any other mechanical means currently available. A supremely clean cut is achieved through ultrasonic vibrations so there is no sawing action, resulting in more uniformity and less stress on the material. The ultrasonic cutting process also provides advantages in regard to speed, safety, cost-effectiveness and smoothness of finished edges.
Cutting tools are manufactured in-house by a precision wire EDM process that produces precision profiles and reduces tool stress for longer life. RPS-SONIC provides full customization of OEM components, kits and horns.
Our ultrasonic cutting blades, ultrasonic knifes, ultrasonic horns or sonotrodes are increasingly used in the food industry within food processing machines either for ultrasonic cutting, ultrasonic slicing, ultrasonic portioning or ultrasonic dicing food such as : cheese slicing, pastry cutting, cake portioning, pie slicing, servings cutting , deli portioning, meat cutting, bacon slicing or even frozen food cutting.
The ultrasonic cutter is composed of a "transducer" that generates vibration and an "oscillator" that drives the transducer. A piezoelectric element is used for the transducer. When voltage is applied, the piezoelectric element displaces the transducer by a few micrometers. Periodically applying voltage generates vibration. Each object has its special frequency, by which the object is stable and easy to vibrate. By adding an external force that corresponds to that special frequency, a small force can obtain a large vibration. This phenomenon is called resonance. In the ultrasonic cutter, the piezoelectric element generates a force that resonates the whole body, from the transducer to the blade tip, generating a large vibration at the tip. The oscillator periodically generates voltage to resonate and drive the transducer. Using a component of the ultrasonic cutter called the horn to wring the cross-sectional area, from the piezoelectric element to the blade tip, can obtain a larger vibration.

The Ultrasonic cutting horn, which is vibrating at a high frequency, creates a nearly friction-free environment between the horn and the product, its blade vibrate with an amplitude of 10-70 µm in the longitudinal friction. The vibration is microscopic, so it cannot be seen The movement repeats 40,000 times per seconds ( 40 Khz ).
Insonation of knife cutting edge allows significant reducing of cutting force and eliminating of cutting materials adhesion. Reducing of cutting force increases speed of cutting and reduce deterioration (blunting) of knife cutting edge.
Ultrasonic knifes differ advantageously from electrical and other kinds of knifes by possibility of getting minimum portions of cutting-off materials (pastries, cakes, cheeses, sausages etc.) without waste material.
